about
About this track:
This song is about a Miranda Lambert show I saw at Terminal Five in September of 2010. One of the best concerts I have ever been to. (She covered "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Coo," flawlessly!) I am a huge country music fan, although I have drifted more and more away from mainstream country, over the years, but I will always love Miranda, who for sure keeps one foot firmly planted in "outlaw" country, and is an inspirational rebel.
lyrics
Lyrics:
I need a big sound for an even bigger feeling. I need the searchlights, a car that peels out squealing. I need some high heels, a neckline that’s revealing. I need the guts I get when Cassandra sings. I love her music, and most of all I love her singin’. I love it when she shakes her head, her long hair swingin’. Her songs are loud and strong and all about her feelings. I love how I connect when Cassandra sings.
There I was when she came to town; no way I was just standing around. Phone up, hand up, singing loud: I was witnessing! She struts the stage like an outlaw queen, all kinds of crazy energy, as real as real can be in this world of mystery.
I need the floodgates, something to amaze me. I’m getting so numb, and most shit doesn’t faze me. But then her voice cuts through the noise and somehow sways me. I need the jump-start jolt when Cassandra sings.
She and her man are smokin’ hot. If you’ve got love, you’ve got a lot. I’d sigh and say, maybe that's not me, maybe that’s OK. But when I walk with my headphones on, listening to Cassandra’s song, she’s predicting true love’s coming any day now.
I'm such a fangirl, you might be embarrassed for me. Well, I don’t care what you think, that’s right, and I’m not sorry. ‘Cause when I’m falling down the slide of work and worry, I need guitar so proud and bass too loud, drums like guns and a worked-up crowd, purple lights, and warm, clear nights, and life let loose, when Cassandra sings. The truth rings out when Cassandra sings. There is no doubt when Cassandra sings.
